Like someone wants to steal my email adresses, and the only way to get them is to copy paste them. Yeah, they stamped out that security hole real good. Too bad it's not a security problem, except in microsoft's head. Hey, I have an idea, why not fix the sieve, that is all windows products. They can't do that, so they will fix nonexistent problems. That is their M.O. >> Stay informed about: Identities or Multiple e-mail accounts |

Gary, Frank, Steve,
I experienced a similar saituation. I set up, or at least I thought I set up
email accounts for my wife and myself from scratch. No importing anything
other than actual emails from my ISP's web mail. ISP software will not work
on Vista or didn't when first purchased. i was able to down load and clean up
over 600 emails before I got the error leading me to believe it is now trying
to download my wife's emails. I now get an error message "host pop.xxxxx.net
could not be found. Please verify you have entered the server name correctly.
Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CC0D. How do you set up both email
accounts under one window user?
Les , how apropreate, get a life

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
should be uninstalled.
By the way, when we're trying to solve a problem it is much easier when we
are given error messages that are complete and accurate. Yours was neither.

Found it! Wife's server address had a comma instead of a dot....renamed each
account from pop address. hit the pull down on send & receive and there both
email accounts were!
Thanks

I hope this helps.
To receive emails to more than one "identity" now known as "accounts"
With Windows Mail open,
go to the TOOLS option
Click on ACCOUNTS
Look in the box labeled MAIL
If the email accounts you are trying to set up to send and receive are
displayed in that box, you're part way there.
Now
Hilight your daughter's email address and click on PROPERTIES
In the window that opens, make sure you're looking at the GENERAL tab.
Then look down the page and make sure you've checked off the box next to
INCLUDE THIS ACCOUNT WHEN RECEIVING MAIL OR SYNCHRONIZING
Also check to be sure your daughter's name and email address are on that page.
Now go to the tab mared SERVERS and make sure the incoming and outgoing mail
boxes are correctly filled in.
Enter your daughter's email password in the PASSWORD box.
Now click APPLY and OK.
Next you should create a folder for your daughter's email
Go to the left column and find LOCAL FOLDERS
Right click on LOCAL FOLDERS and select the option NEW FOLDER
Give it a name (your daughter's or whatever you'll recognize)
Now you've got to go back to TOOLS and selecvt MESSAGE RULES and then MAIL.
You must then create a rule that says that all mail that is addressed TO or
CC TO or Blind CC to your daughter's email address should be directed to the
FOLDER you have just created under LOCAL FOLDERS.
Just take your time on this page. You shouold be able to figure it out once
you get this far.
To test, I suggest you send your daughter some emails and see if they go
into her folder.

Good explanation! Maybe you can help me with my problem. It is somewhat
related. I have a new computer and have set up two users. I was able to
import email accounts, messages etc. with everything working fine for one
user but have been having problems with the other user. I will get things set
up and working for the other user, all messages, accounts, contacts etc
imported then come back the next day and everything is gone or the server
name in the accounts has changed and today I get this message when I click in
Inbox (none of the other folders show up anymore):
Folder could not be displayed
Windows Mail could not open this folder.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Possible causes are:
Low disk space.
Low memory.
Any suggestions?

It might be a security program blocking the Registry changes it needs to
make. A few, but not all, of the programs now doing this are:
Ad-aware's Ad-Watch
IBM Access Connections
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
Norton AV
Spyware Blaster
Spybot> Tools> IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Spysweeper
Spyware Doctor
Windows Defender
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5 Reported to be fixed in later versions.
In the case of Zone Alarm 6.5 or Norton 2007 it actually has to be
uninstalled. Make sure the Windows Firewall is turned on until you
reinstall Zone Alarm.
Boot into Safe Mode with Networking and try the change.

Your email provider (who is it?) should have instructions for setting up
Windows Mail.

Check with the provider of your email address.. They probably have a help
webpage with the proper settings.

This will get her emails to your account buy why would you want that. I
would want my own account. In my business many of us wear different hats
such as, Safety Manager, and we would want to have email identities to
help sending emails to different groups. When you create mail, in the
"TO" box if you look on the right side you will see a drop down box so
you can choose which email address to send it from. When you recieve
mail it tells you in the header which email address it is sent to. If
your daughter can receive her own email then she should have her own
computer. If this isn't helping you then you need to go out and grab
another email application that still has identies. We just had to get
used to something that was a little different.
