I tried what was suggested and reset the language to French and applied it,
closed the menue then reopened it and reselected English then closed the
menue, tried spellcheck again and it worked ok.

Spell Check did not work on this message: "menue"? "spellcheck"?

In trying to get Spell Check I entered Tools/Option/Spelling. I see English
has been chosen and I understand I should check Apply. However, unable to
scroll down the page to get to Apply and reenter English. What next.

I've seen your answer to the 'spelling check' problem. However, in the
Windows Mail under 'Tools', there is no 'option'. With my old system the
Outlook did have 'Options' under 'Tools'. The current 'Tools' has 1.
spelling (which gave the same error message as the icon). 2. Request Read
Receipt; 3. Check names... but no 'Options'. Please help!

You are looking at the Tools in a message compose window, not in the main
Windows Mail window.

The top of the window should say - Windows Mail
not New Message

thank you for those simple instructions about the home page. I've been
pulling my hair out trying to find an "options" icon when writing an email
