Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>perform_maintain (more info?)

I have been trying to install AVG 6 from Grisoft to aid
in my battle against viruses. My Norton doesn't seem to
be working. I have downloaded the free version, saved
it, then opened to install. It will start to install
then stops & gives me this message

In blue across the top it says
16 BIT WINDOWS SUBYSYTEM

In the screen it says
C:\\WINDOWS \SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT
This system file is not suitable for MS-DOS and Microsoft
Windows application. Choose close to terminate the
application.
Close Ignore

What does this mean & how do I install this program.
Thanks for any help
