Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>general (more info?)

Hi all,

I recently upgraded my operating system from Windows 98 to Windows XP Home
Edition. One strange problem I've had since the upgrade is that I now can't
get any sound from my Roland SC8850 sound module through my PC monitors. I
hear all other system sounds ok & CDs & MP3s play fine but nothing from my
SC8850.

I've had the SC8850's main L & R audio outputs connected to my PC's Line In
via an rca-to-small stereo jack-cable & this setup has worked fine until
now. The headphones output on the SC8850 seems to work fine but I now can't
hear any sound fgrom the SC8850 thru my montiors. Any ideas on how to
rectify this situation?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Have you checked the forums for your sound card? What are you calling your
monitors? Do they have speakers attached, included or do you mean the
tower? Are you meaning system beeps.......

In the meantime, see if anything here helps and good luck!

Why doesn't my sound work?

Hi,

if you know model of your card, try to search for drivers.

Try <a rel="nofollow" style='text-decoration: none;' href="http://www.driverguide.com" target="_blank">www.driverguide.com</a>
That page needs login and password, so login is "drivers" pass "all"

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, I seemed to have solved the problem. The Line In was
muted somewhere along the chain.

Cheers,
Chris
