I wasn't sure where to go to get some help with this, I figured this was the
most appropriate forum.

I have a Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer for Bluetooth and when I came home
tonight and jumped on my PC I had a little pop up message on my desktop
saying that my mouse batteries are low and I need to change them. Prior to
changing the batteries my mouse worked just fine, however after I put new
batteries in it stopped responding all together. I tried to put the old
batteries back in and no response from that either.

So when I go to Start --> Control Panel --> Bluetooth Devices

My mouse isn't listed. So I'll proceed to add the new device and it detects
it just fine, however the mouse still doesn't respond.

The interesting thing is when I close out of Bluetooth Devices and reopen it
from the control panel my newly added mouse device isn't there.

I have proceeded to add this device about 5 times now or so, and everytime I
close out of the Bluetooth Device window and reopen it my device isn't there.

And I have DL'd and installed the latest drivers for the mouse from
Microsoft's website.

To sum it all up...

*Mouse was working fine last night when I got home from work
*Had a message that batteries were low and to change them
*Changed the batteries and the mouse stopped responding
*Put back the old batteries and mouse still doesn't respond
*Put the new batteries back into the mouse
*Went to the Control Panel -- > Bluetooth Devices --> Add --> Went through
the Bluetooth connection wizard
*The connection wizard found my bluetooth mouse
*My mouse still doesn't respond even though the wizard found the mouse and
established a connection
*The mouse is on my Bluetooth Device list
*I close the Bluetooth Device list
*I re-open the Bluetooth Device list
*My mouse isn't listed
*I click Add and go through the connection wizard again
*This process keeps repeating

So my PC recognizes my mouse, shows the connection is there but my mouse
still doesn't respond. After I go through the connection wizard and my mouse
is listed under the Bluetooth Devices and then close out of the Bluetooth
Devices and re-open it seconds later my mouse is no longer listed under the
Bluetooth Devices.

I guess I have no other advice but the inevitable and banal assumption: Did
you replace the batteries by correct type - new, fully charged alkaline ones
and - way installed.

There might be a clue found in one of the Microsoft articles:

“The input device may not work when you try to use a Bluetooth-enabled
Microsoft wireless keyboard or mouse”:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811797/en-us

“The Microsoft pointing device or keyboard may not function at all”:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811798/

“Microsoft wireless mouse does not work as expected after successful
installation”:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320194#top

“After you connect a Microsoft pointing device to a USB port the pointing
device may not be detected or may not function correctly”:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223256/en-us
