Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>general (more info?)

After using my BIOS to disable the parallel port on my laptop running xp pro
sp2, I see the following error in event viewer:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7000
Date: 21/11/2007
Time: 14:50:53
User: N/A
Computer: CERBERUS
Description:
The Parallel port driver service failed to start due to the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it
has no enabled devices associated with it.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

However, I cannot find a service called "Parallel port driver service" in
the services mmc.

Any help in disabling this unwanted service would be much appreciated.

Regards,

James

Perhaps Disable or Uninstall the parallel port in Device Manager will
correct the issue.
