Post subject: Disk Partion and Multi-Boot

I currently run XP Pro SP2", on a Pentium 4 3.2, HDD is 120GB single volume Basic Disc using NTFS.

I want to know if I can Partion this HDD (without having to reformat the whole Disk), and then install a Vista Beta 2 OS, running under a Multi-Boot setup.

Can anyone tell me if this is possible, and if so, how to go about setting it up??

Mant thanks in anticipation of your support. Algymarx.

Of course you can!

Partition Magic has been doing it for years. You'll need at least version 8 to do it on a NTFS formatted disk.
You must install it into XP and then run it to create the second partition.

BE CAREFULL though. It's a tech tool and should not be used by anyone without the technical expertise to use it properly.

From everything I've read here and in other forums, the word on the street (so to speak) is, "Don't put Vista on the same HD with XP".

Put it on a separate hard drive, for safety.

Good Luck,
Shadow Cool

Thanks Shadow, I'll give it a whirl, but, can you tell: Can I use an External USB2 HDD to load Vista on to?

Again, Many thanks for your help. Algymarx

Lol, this doesn't mean I'm necessarily right for your machine (depends on age etc), but I could certainly do it on my machine.
