Post subject: Documents and Settings - can turn off encryption?
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>help_and_support (more info?)

I've noticed that the data in the Documents and Settings folder is unreadable
if I try to look through the folder from an external source. For instance, if
I took the hard drive out of my computer, put it in an external case, and
tried to read the data in Documents and Settings I would not be able to.

My question - can you turn off the encryption (or whatever Windows uses) to
the Documents and Settings folder so that it is always visible and copyable?
