When I try to install IIS, I get an error message saying,

Setup could not copy one or more of the files. The specific error code is
0X8.

Have you tried installing any other Windows components do they go through
okay?

I encountered something similar when I was recording (trying) a tutorial for
my Windows site on how to re-install the XP games - but despite the
installing being parked right on top of the files (on my XP RTM, XP SP2 and
local i386 folder) it just wouldn't go through.

Thanks for your reply.

I tried installng other components just to see if those installations would
be successful. The only other one that was not successful (besides IIS) was
"Fax Services". When I tried to install that component, I got the same error
message I got when I tried to install IIS: "Setup could not copy one or more
of the files. The specific error code is 0x8. Press OK to continue or
cancel to stop setup and try again. If you continue, the components may not
function properly."

With IIS.... Interestingly, if I click the OK button and let Windows attempt
to install IIS, it installs some of the necessary files, but apparently not
all of them because IIS won't work.

When I do an uninstall of IIS, I get another error message: "Error loading
C:Windows\system32\Aspperf.dll. The specified module cannot be found."

Stockmanhouse
I have been having exactly the same problem. I repeatedly received the same
advice to get the installer to look at another directory. Same problem every
time...it cant COPY.

I found this link via another website. IIS installed first time after this.

Try this link. I had the same problem that it wouldn't copy the file. This
link solved my problem.
