I am experiencing some problems with XP Pro PC's that are not
running the logon scripts when the students log on. These are XP Pro
with SP1 only at this time connecting to 2000 servers.

We are experiencing this problem within a library at the
school. But if you go to another PC (98, 2000, or XP) outside of the
library, the logon script runs fine. In fact if you go to the
librarians PC running XP Pro, they get therir home directory fine.

I have checked the servers, their doesn't appear to be an
issue. I checked the switches and the PC's in the library are split
between two different switches. I have reset these. I can ping the
server that they need to connect to, and it responds without problems.

  Any ideas?

Kenn

My guess would be that these scripts were 'downloaded' and have a block on
the Properties.

New files downloaded onto your system will not run unless you rightclick the
file, Properties, and click the "Unblock" button

These are logon scripts, not regular files, so there should be no
reason to unlock them.

One thing that I have noticed is that if I move the students home
directory to another server, modify the logon script to point to the
new location, it works correctly. Then if I change the logon script
back to the original server location they can now get their home
directory without issue.

Bizzare!

I was thinking that this is a DNS issue. But I can go to any other XP
Pro PC in the same school or to a different one, and get the home
directory all the time.

Regards,

Kenn
