Post subject: Lost USB connection

Hello group...I'm running xp home sp2, all was fine. I have 2 usb ports. One for my printer and the other for my mp3 player or digital camera whenever I need to use it...
Now I can't print or load music...I've run trouble shooter and it appears to me that my computer is not even aware that I have hardware attached to it...Any sugestions before I take it to a repair shop?
Thanks
