I tried MSN, because I thought it would be nice to have some of the new
features.
Now I've gone back to the standard Windows Messenger.
Why ?
Well, for a start because MSN messenger is so intrusive - I really don't
want to be forced to have tabs for dating, and a dozen other things, I just
want to use the standard chat, and be able to use a few extra features like
personalized icons and extended emoticons.
Secondly, MSN messenger is so un-businesslike. I'm using this for work, not
home, I'm a grown up, not a 14 year old. I'd be much happier if I could
customize MSN to suit my tastes, but apart from changing the background
colour in a chat window it seems to be difficult to change things.
So, sadly, I'll be sticking with Windows messenger for the forseeable
future, and I'll just have to live without the nice extra bits.

Greetings Robert,

I agree with you on some of these points and luckily they also do in Redmond which is why

Ahah - the guilty party ! Very Happy

thanks for answering - I wonder, is there any chance that just a few of the
nicer features might drift down into Windows messenger ?
or alternatively that someone might make a version of MSN messenger that
allows sufficient customisation that you can pare it right down almost to the
Windows messenger core ?
That would really be better, as my kids use MSN messenger on the same
machine, but in their own accounts, and having to have both installed does
cause confusion from time to time.

Hi Robert,

Well, to add to it, the Windows Messenger team itself hasn't existed for quite some time, so
it's unlikely you'll see any functionality added.

I too would prefer a more professional look and feel to MSN Messenger but I'm not aware of
any plans to add that.
