I loaded Norton Anti Virus 2002 on my Win XP machine.
Since installing XP SP2 the Security Console would not
recognize my Norton. After checking on the Symantec
website I found that NAV 2002 is incompatible with XP. I
bought a copy of NAV 2005 and am trying to install it,
but the installation never completes. I tried to remove
the NAV 2002 using both it's internal uninstall program,
Windows Add/Remove programs, and even an uninstall tool
provided by Symantec. Following Symantec instructions I
even deleted all files and registry entries for NAV and
tried the install in "safe" mode. But still no luck. The
install program stops and tells me there is another
install in progress. I get error 1500, which I have been
unable to find on the Microsoft website. Can anyone help?

Based on all the comments about problems with Norton in these newsgroups I
am wondering why anyone would use it.

Your problem can only be answered by them.

Most problems with Nortons can be found by searching the knowledge base
