Cannot open saved download. Keep getting the message"locked files" will not
permit me to open it. Sounds like a security issue but I'm sure of the site
I'm trying to download from.

Above is the MS link for the standalone version of XP SP3
There is NO separate Pro edition of XP SP3.
And only download MS security updates, which a SP is, from Microsoft sites.

Is this download a .zip file? It could also be a self-extracting (.exe)
archive file (.zip content).

Maybe the source decided to password-protect the .zip file. That means
you'll need to get the password to extract the files from it.

So what is the URL from which you downloaded the file?
