HI

I have an older scanner that I used to run on Windows ME. To install the
driver on my new machine I searched around and found the XP driver. (I
still have the old CD.)

The new hardware installation wizard sees the scanner when I power it up,
but cannot install the driver from the downloaded files - it cannot find
any "device information files" in the directory containing the driver.

When I let it search, it does not find the driver.

One small thing I noticed during the process, it calls it a SCSI device
when in fact it runs on the parallel port. Not sure if that matters.

What should I do to get this working?

Brent

Wow! It worked.

I uninstalled it, then went through the install again, including where it
said the driver was not signed with windows logo or something, and then
tried again and it worked just fine.

Thanks!

PS Does it matter about that warning about windows logo driver or whatever?

No. That just means the people who provided the driver never bothered
to have it certified by MS as working in the OS. If it works, it
works.

By the way, congratulations. XP is notoriously finicky about working
with parrallel port scanners - most of the time it won't.
