My OS is WINXP Home Edition SP3 running on an HP Pavilion a450n computer. About 3 weeks ago I updated to WINXP SP3. For about 2 weeks all was fine. About a week ago I noticed that my Date/Time was wrong. I would correct it but every time I shut down & rebooted the wrong date & time is indicated. Also,my computer power cord is plugged into a power strip. I turn on the power strip & then press the power on button on the front of the computer & the boot up begins. Now as soon as I turn on the power strip the computer turns on by itself without me having to press the power button. Can I use a Restore Point before I downloaded SP3 or am I stuck with it?

You need to replace the battery on your motherboard. That should cure the
problem you're having with the date & time. Take a look at these articles for
more info.

How To Replace The CMOS Battery In Your PC

How to Install a CMOS Battery

As for the startup issue, as has already been pointed out, you need to enter
your computer's BIOS setup program and change one of the settings. Look for a
notice when you start your computer that says something like Press F2 for Setup
or Setup = F2. That will tell you which key you have to hit to enter BIOS setup.
In the setup program, look for a Power section. Look for a setting related to
power failure. Changing it might solve this issue.

Good luck

Hi,

All these settings should be controlled in your System BIOS rather than
windows.

Reboot and press "the key to enter setup"
and fix it in there

Regards,

Matt
