Greetings,

To correct this, click Start,then Run, and type the following:
msiexec /x {C3A6819F-62D3-4750-AF1C-28206DDF2C2E}
then click OK.

Then, after uninstallation, reinstall Windows Messenger 5.1 from:

Post subject: Re: Starting Acrobat Reader 6 calls up the Windows Messanger [Login to view extended thread Info.]

I am still having this problem after following your instructions I am sorry to say. No matter where I place my messenger.msi file, the installer finds some reason not to complete the install. If I install from the Desktop it gives the eror:

"A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\Messenger.msi"

If I move the installer to that directory, I get this:

"The file 'msvcp70.dll6057F44F_78E2_4077_BF73_EA17A4C08FAF' cannot be installed because the file canot be found in the cabinet file 'MsgrCore.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an eroor reading from teh CD-ROM, or a probolem with this package."

This is becoming a nightmare; if I try to click my Acrobat Reader icon Messenger goes into a loop where I eventually have to cold-restart the machine tio make it stop its futile attempt to reinstall Messenger. There is no MsgrCore.cab anywhere on my machine. I need to read PDFs for my work. The only thing that changed from the machine running just fine to this state of affairs is that I resized some partitions. Please help if you can.
