Post subject: Unable to add either New or Guest account

Running XP Professional - SP2.
When I attempt to create either a new or guest account system halts when attempting to create personal settings.
Then I need to restarty through Task manager.
I have attempted to use User Accounts in Control Panel as well as through Computer Managemeent Console.
Your assistance is appreciated.

Try booting into safe made, log on as administrator and do the work in that mode.

XP-Professional already has a guest account, so all you have to do is enable it.

From that ControlPanel/UserAccounts:
Click Advanced Tab
Click Advanced Button
Click Users in left panel.

In the right panel you should then see the "Guest" account with a red-X indicating it is disabled.

Right-click Guest Account and choose "Properties".
Un-check "Account is disabled".
