I've got 170 of the damn things - some with and some without this problem. Trouble is, HP don't really support XP being installed on these Omnibooks.
This was their advice today:

This issue occurs if one of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner. If you still choose to install any other Operating then you could download the drivers for your notebook from the below link:

If the issue still persist, please reinstall the Operating System that was shipped with the unit to resolve the issue.
Unfortunately the link doesn't provide support for WinXP.
If you've upgraded your OS, try rolling back the driver in Device manager. If it works, please email me the driver as I've got a whole batch to do!
