Post subject: Windows Time service error!

Everytime I start up my computer, a message pops up on my screen.
"a service failed to start up". I´ve checked the Event Viewer and the time service can´t automaticly start.

The service worked after I installed the SP2 ( 6 months ago), but the error message started for about 2 weeks ago. No spesific updates were applied at this time. When I try to start the service manually, I get the 1300 error message (Not all privileges referenced are assigned to the caller). I´ve searched for this message on the Microsoft ang google webpages with no solution.

I´ve tried to change the "log on user" on the service, but then I get a 1079 error message (Could not start the Windows Time Service on the local computer".

Other services that use the "NT AUTHORITY\LocalService" account, starts up normaly.

Please help me Smile

Regards
Abigum

Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)

Change it back to system and make sure that you are logged on as a local
administrator when you try to start it. You might want to try doing a System
Restore if you have a restore point from before this started to happen and
if that does not help try running System File Checker as in sfc /scannow
though make sure you have the install disk handy. If that does not help try
running the secedit command as listed in the link below and append the
/areas services switch to the end of it. That should restore default
security settings to the services. The time service is NOT a critical
service to non domain computers. --- Steve

secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb
/verbose /areas services
