Hi there,
I have a new laptop with Windows XP Pro. I set up my own Administrator
profile and 2 other profiles for my kids. When I rebooted the machine I do
not see my kids profiles on the Welcome screen. There is only mine. How do I
get my kids profiles to appear?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

in the control panel click user accounts. If you do not see the accounts, you
will need to re create them.

Right now I have the Windows Network Login. I can access the accounts that I
have created this way but I wanted to use the Welcome screen. There must be
a way for me to do this.

In user accounts click change the way users log on and off. In logon and
logoff options check the use welcome screen option. you may get a fast user
switching not enabled dialog . if you do then enable it

when you check the use the welcome screen checkbox you must also click the
apply options button.

The profiles are available from Documents and Settings. There is nothing wrong
with accessing the accounts. Right now I am using the Windows Network Login
to get into the accounts - but the kids like the Welcome Screen. The accounts
disappeared from the Welcome Screen after I removed Administrator rights from
the accounts.
What I want to know is this - is it normal for Windows XP Pro to work this
way. I am positive that I have used computers running XP Home that have users
with reduced rights on the Welcome Screen. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

user accounts in windows xp can be somewhat troublesome. personally I prefer
to use 1 account for each computer. the best suggestion I can offer would be
to recreate the accounts. first delete the accounts . Then create new limited
accounts.
you should only have one administrator account. If you have files in the
accounts that you want to save, back them up beforehand.

I vaguely remember something about XP Pro - if the machine has joined a
domain then the Welcome Screen option is not available. HTH
