I just setup a modem and fax console for one of our lines that is a dedicated
fax line. The funny thing is, that the system received a fax on one of our
other fax lines. I thought that maybe we had just misconfigured the number in
the fax console, but it looks good. Where else could I look to find out if
this is a misconfiguration. I've already looked in the modem and do not see
where I would setup a phone number, so I am at a loss to explain how this
happened, unless the fax lines were switched on our phone system, which is
highly unlikely.

Explain your problem more clearly.
What would the fax number you specified have to do with what is received? A
fax modem will receive any call that comes into the modem on the center pair
of wires.

I doubt the fax lines are/were switched, this smacks of Human Error. Client
says "I sent a Fax to number X" but it arrives on number Y; most likely
cause is client sent the fax to the wrong number, an easy thing to do if
there are several dedicated fax numbers for your organization.
