Post subject: XP not recognizing firewire devices

Has anyone ever run into XP not recognizing firewire devices?? I've tried 2 differend firewire devices (camcorder and externa HD) on 3 different computers (all XP) and windows will not recognize when I plug the devices in. I've tried 3 different firewire cards, and 3 different firewire cables to pin point the problem. In all cases, windows says that the firewire controller cards are working fine, and both devices have previously worked on the same computeres!!! I have all necessary drivers installed and am running SP2 with all updates.

Has this ever happened to anyone????

Yes, and no I never did get it resolved.
I almost tore my hair out.
I identified the drivers that were meant to be in place.
I even tried trying to make Widows reinstal the drivers from where I knew them to be.
Nothing.
I gave up.
