Windows XP Home was already installed on new computer purchased at Best Buy
and no CD-Rom included with package. How do I backup files? The computer is
Compaq Presario. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Gail

If your computer did not come with an XP Home installation CD,
you can download ntbackup.msi here.

Installing the Backup Program on the Home Version
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/windowsxp_tips.htm#backup_home

While the Windows Backup program does an acceptable job backing
up selected files and folders, you might want to consider using
an imaging program such as Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost
if you're planning on backing up the entire contents of your
hard drive.

Good luck

Borrow an XP cd from someone or download ntbackup from the web.

A PC manu is obliged to supply some means of recovering your sys, I suggest
you read the manual, or refer to Compaq site.
There are many free backup utilities, most far better than the default win
one
