corrupt and missing files/videos that wont play

Help!My laptop has stopped playing videos.The only problem i can find is it
says i have 19 corrupt files.How can i identify and delete these?...sorry i
know i'm thick but i'm new to this and everyone has to learn!

what happens when you do try and play a file?
Whats this program that comes up and says they are corrupted?
What are the corrupted files called?
