Have you tried restarting your computer? Does chkdsk then run? If it
does allow chkdsk to complete. It may take some time or a long time to
complete! It will depend on the size of the hard drive and whether or
not it encounters and has to repair/ mark off bad sectors on the hard
disk.
Often chkdsk is set to run on boot up if the computer has been shut down
incorrectly. Have you used the power off or rest buttons?
