my monitor is too dim when the lap top is on battery mode. I think it is due
to power save, but I can't find the setting. How do I torn off this setting?

There are usually function keys to alter the screen brightness. Have a look
for ones with up/down arrows on them.

In order to make mine work, I have to press the FN key in the bottom left and
then press the sun/up and down arrows, which on my laptop also say Home and
End, at the same time.

Hi,

Most notebooks have a "Power Saver" or "Power Miser" program or similar.
Have a look in Start / Programs ....

Also, Control Panel has a Power Options applet (icon). Try that too.
