I installed XP on my laptop that was running ME. I told the installation to
FORMAT the C: and not to partition. Now I see in Explore that I have a
D:\SYSTEM_SAV and it is still a FAT32. XP sp1 is running great on C:\ but it
appears that this D: drive is lurking on the HD and using about 2gigs of
space and loaded with what appears to be backup files (from ME??). If it is
truly a partition, I can live with that, But I want to REMOVE all traces of
the old ME. Can I format this drive to NTFS and use it??

Hi Jack,

Do the files in the D:\system_save partition have extensions of .PQI
?

Hi Jack,

These are file images, most likely a copy of the restore files.
If you have the restore disk on cd then it should ok do delete them.
