I need to reformat my HD and re-install XP Pro. I have the SP2 file
and am just dreading the Windows Update step where I download all
those updates since SP2. Is there a place to get all those updates
(from SP2 to present) in one file?

I am sure that some of the IT administrators and techs have assembled
(even slip-streamed) post-SP2 updates and files. Search and ask around.
AFAIK, there has been at least 60+ post-SP2 updates. We install them in
batches of 15, re-booting with each 15th update sorted according to date.
Tedious...yes. Hope SP3 for Windows XP comes out soon.

Give up that hope. I don't think you'll ever see a SP3 for XP, not
with Vista released.

I'm pretty sure MS has even said there won't be another SP release for
XP.

Untrue, that's not been said. Currently one is planned. Of course that can
change.

On the contrary, Microsoft has said there *will* be an SP3, and that it is
preliminarily planned for the first half of 2008. See
