Have a XP home edition system that when booted displays a red icon in the
lower right (in the time clock area) that when clicked on says that a driver
is not working correctly for a CDROM / DVD. Have checked and loaded the
latest drivers and firm wares. The hardware manager does not display any
thing wrong with the drives (the CDROM or DVD). After a short time another
yellow icon with a popup displays noting you need to restart windows for the
changes to take effect when in fact I have not made any. Have loaded SP2 and
used the update checker several times and all is “ok (no updates required)
to no avail. Have removed one and both drives, reinstalled one or the other
drives and this still keeps coming up. This is driving me and my client to
the wall. Any known whys and any fixes ? Thanks
