I feel you have left out a lot of vital information here.

You 'carried out a disk cleanup'.. Does that mean you ran the Windows XP
Disk Cleanup utility?

You 'lost most of my files in office' means...? A disk Cleanup (the Windows
XP Utility) only deletes log/tmp files by default. It would not delete
Word/Excel/Powerpoint files. It *might* make office forget recently opened
files - but i don't recall that ever happening - and even then, the files
are not lost - just not as easily accessible.

Then you go on to say 'I don't have the XP disk.." --> which is more
confusing as why you would need that when you lost 'files in my office' and
Windows XP and Office are two different beasts.

Can you post back with more information on what you did to get in your
current situation and actually - what that current situation actually is?

It might be helpful if you told us exactly what your "disk clean up"
consisted of.

If you deleted files needed by Windows XP or Microsoft Office, you need the
installation CDs to get them back.

Your computer manufacturer may have placed a recovery partition on your
computer. What these typically do is erase your entire hard disk and
reinstall all the software that was installed at ther factory. Contact the
manufacturer to see if yiou have such a partition.

Hi,

It is really possible to restore lost files with data recovery tools. These are utilities capable of restoring erased files. Among them the most powerful IMHO are Active@ undelete and Uneraser (for DOS). This tools worked perfectly for me so I'm pretty sure you will find them useful indeed.
