Post subject: DVDs play backin wrong aspect ratio

I have a problem where DVDs played back in Windows Media Player appear in an
incorrect aspect ratio. The horizontal aspect of the picture is very narrow,
whilst the vertical is tall. Instead of 16:9 it looks more like 9:16. Is
there a registry setting or something else that can affect this?

Try here: Tools > Options > Devices tab > Display > Properties. See if
you will get a perfect circle. If this doesn't help, the problem may be
caused by your third-party DVD filter codec. The better spot to ask:
news:microsoft.public.multimedia.windows.mediaplayer
