I was using logmein.com to access my desktop from my laptop, and my
desktop was acting strange so I sent a safe-mode reboot to the
desktop. Well then it never came back online. When I got to the
computer today, It was on the black screen with the apology message
with the options to start in safe mode, safe mode with networking,
safe mode with command prompt, last known configuration, or start
windows normally. No matter which option I chose, it always brought
me back to this screen. So I jumped online with my laptop and looked
around in Google groups for some suggestions. Found my original XP CD
and put it in and followed the instructions to boot from CD, Windows
Setup, went to second screen and chose R for repair (as it found my
original XP Home installation), it runs the repair, then tries to boot
but goes to safe mode then says Windows Setup can't run in safe mode,
windows will restart. I hit ok, and it gets to the same place so I'm
stuck in the loop. Anybody know any way to get it to starup normally
without going into safe mode during Setup??
TIA
