This morning my computer wasn't able to find my HP scanner; I hadn't
used it for a couple weeks, so I don't know when the problem started.

Later I noticed that my wireless was not connected. The Linksys
adapter was disabled (?), I enabled it, but it didn't help. I'm still
not wireless.

This afternoon, after a simple paper jam, my printer wouldn't print
any more pages. It's on, it says Ready, but nothing happens when I
try to print.

I don't see "Imaging Devices" in my Device Manager; after IDE, I see
VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers. Maybe this isn't
related.

Can anyone help?

That all over kind of failure implies a hard disk failure (file corruption)
Try "Error Checking" the drive (rightclick the drive icon in My Computer,
Properties, Tools tab.)

I did the Error Checking and nothing was found. This morning my
printer is working again, but I still have no scanner or wireless.

Is there a common denominator?

Interesting: my laptop is connected to wireless. Only my desktop
isn't.
