setupapi.dll

I m trying to upgrade 98 se to xp home but everytime I run setup I get
setupapi.dll is corrupted reload file. I ve downloaded file to i386
folder,extracted it from xp disc ,etc , what is the problem. I ve tryed it
about 5 times . Please respond. On loadup of 98 ,system tells me that
ntdll.dll file is missing or corrupt also plus message comes up powrprof.dll
is missing or corrupt . I ve also tryed extracting these too ,still not
working.

"Setupapi.dll file appears to be corrupt" error message when you
try to upgrade to Windows XP
