windows xp home edition instalation disc

Post subject: windows xp home edition instalation disc
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>newusers (more info?)
Hi, where can i get another xp home edition instalation disc?
i lost original xp home disc and am running xp pro but looks like its a
copy because i cant get all the updates from microsoft!
i still have xp home product key on top of computer case but no disc to
reinstall!
Do i have to buy another disc and if so,how much are they? or is there
a cheaper alternative?

Is this a copy of WIndows that came with your computer? If so, it's an OEM
copy, and your recourse is with the manufacturer, not Microsoft. Contact
your vendor for advice.

yes it came with the computer but was bought from time computers who
im sure dont exist anymore !! The store i bought it from closed about
a year and a half ago!

You may be out of luck, then, and have to buy another copy. As I understand
Microsoft's official policy, they won't help you, but it doesn't hurt to
call them and ask. Maybe you'll be lucky.

IF its a Time or Tiny branded PC I may (stress MAY) be able to help
with a recovery CD

Mail me with details of the machine eg model number (if it has one)
