Did you pay extra to have Word and Excel, or some version of
Microsoft Office, installed when you ordered the laptop?

Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Access,Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows
operating system. They are, and always have been, separate
applications, that must be purchased and installed separately.

You can find Microsoft Word and Excel at your favorite store
that sells computer software. All you need is cash, check or
your credit card in order to make your purchase.

Windows XP is an "Operating System". You'll need to
purchase a "Full Version" of "Microsoft Office" unless
you own an older Microsoft Office installation CD.
