Post subject: Flash player no longer works Please help
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsme>multimedia (more info?)

Hello I am hoping someone can please help me.
I am running Windows ME with internet explorer 6.0 and last time I use my
macromedia flash player it worked fine. But this weekend I tried to watch
some video and all I got was the sound no picture. I uninstalled my flash
player and tried to reinstall it. However when I tried to download after
hitting the download button,
it said I should receive a message that it was download ok. But instead I
got a square box with a smaller box with a red square, a green circle and a
blue triangle.
And never got the download. I am using Google toolbar and allowed pop ups
but nothing ever happens except for the box and no download. Please any
advise would be greatly appreciated. I am fairly new at computers, and have
tried all I know.
Could this be a registry problem? And if so is there a patch?
Thank you in advance for all and any help.
Donna

Thank you for the response Mike,

I really do appreciate the help Smile Thank you.

I did as you instructed and went to the website you gave. Still same results.
I did try another website fpdownload.macromedia.com and it did show that the
file was trying to download but then gave message: setup could not find your
browsers plugins directory. You may install in diffrent directory but plugin
may not work properly. Is there a way to restore my plugins or find them?
Thank you again.

Try Add/Remove Programs and uninstall any/all references to Macromedia
Flash. Next clear your Temporary Internet Files cache (Control Panel |
Internet Options | General | Delete Files and then check the box to delete
all offline content and then Apply and OK out).

Now try downloading and installing Flash again -

Found answer myself.

I went to start, settings, control panel, add remove programs, internet
explorer, clicked on remove and was promped for repair or remove? I selected
repair, and it checked for missing registry entries and other missing
applications. Rebooted and all works fine again. Just incase someone else
out there incounters problem. Hope this helps you. I went crazy for a week
reading everything on the internet, asking my IT people at work, and so on.
Finally fixed it myself.
