Windows 95 New Install

Is there a forum for a Windows 95 question? My neighbor has an old PC with
95. He has no disks. The HD has c:\windows\options\cabs

But he does not have any numbers, serial keys, etc.

Windows will not load. Is there a way to create a 95 Boot disk / A drive /
and reload 95 ? But should the Reg Editor run first to try and locate the
25 digit serial number in the existing version of Windows 95 ?

The old 95 PC has no network connections but it has a CD Rom. Is there a
way to DL and create a bootable CD on this XP home PC, use that CD to boot
the old 95 PC and install Windows 95?

Thank you from New Orleans.

See http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm about creating a boot
floppy with CD drivers. As for the product ID, try
http://www.62nds.com/62nds/diag.exe

additional:

you can create a bootable CD with XP (pull the harddisk from the old machine
and connect to the XP to transfer the files for win95)
note this will not make a disk like your original win95 CD (no autostart)

whether your win95 machine can boot to a CD ...can't say (best way would be
floppy as Ben suggested)

To use a WIN9X boot disk to install win2k

you need to run winnt (not setup)

also: You also must load smartdrv fist or your installation may never
complete
