When I tested it, I copied/pasted it from YOUR previous post. You must have
misspelled it. I see that you spelled it as hotgator, but apparently it's
supposed to be hostgator - you missed an "S" in one of your previous post. I
happen to copy/paste the wrong one. I should have looked closer. Use the
correct one.

I copied and pasted it from this passage from your post dated 1/2/2008,
10:05AM EST:
I'm now creating a new delegation. I open the Delegation Wizard. The
FQDN is .laeyworks.com. As I type ns416.hotgator.com in 'Delegated
domain' 'next' becomes disabled after suppling the period at the end
of ns416.(hostgator.com). Thus the 'delegated domain' string becomes
disabled at this point in the string ns416.laeyeworks.com.

Ace, this is one of those domains a delegation for the www record won't work
for resolving the external website, when the external website has the same
name domain name.
The Public DNS server's www.laeyeworks.com record is a CNAME for
laeyeworks.com. The only thing that will work in this case is to delete the
delegation and create an "A" host record with 70.87.170.84 IP address. This
will give them access by http://www.laeyeworks.com If they want access by
http://laeyeworks.com they will have to get IIS on the DCs to redirect.

Shoooot. I didn't catch that. I re-ran an nslookup on it, and yes it points
back to the Ldap name. Shooot.

Good catch, Kevin.

Well, John M, sorry about that. My sincere and humble apologies. Delete the
delegation and just create the A record.

On January 3 I got stuck. And resisted returning here not wanting to
be too pesky. Today I came in with that long face. And what I read is
very encouraging. If we can get through this snag it will have been a
most amazing voyage.

I created in forward lookup 'new host' with www.laeyeworks.com and IP
70.87.170.84. Now showing in forward lookup is laeyeworks.com and
www.laeyeworks.com. Very good.

In forward lookup www.laeyeworks.com I have type 'A' with data as
70.87.170.84 IP.
So far, so good.

I can ping www.laeyeworks.com successfully. I can ping 70.87.170.84
successfully.

In the browser I no longer get this 'under construction' or a 'page

I get bounced over into Google.com? I do a seach laeyeworks.com. And
click on that link -voila -directed instantly to google.com At least
this is very encouraging. And once again, thanks for indulging this
fellow, and helping out.

Either I did a typo or your hosting provider is a dynamic IP.

opcode: Query, status: NoError, id: 42
flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 2, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0

QUESTION SECTION:
www.laeyeworks.com. IN A

ANSWER SECTION:
www.laeyeworks.com. 14400 IN CNAME laeyeworks.com.
laeyeworks.com. 14400 IN A 70.87.170.34

For you I hope it is a typo, because there really is no other way around
this, short of renaming your domain.
I'm almost certain, that it was my typo, because as you can see, the TTL
(14400 seconds) on these records is much too high for the site to be on a
dynamic IP, if the IP changed the site could be down for as much as 4 hours.

Yep, sure is a typo.

John put in 70.87.170.84. It's supposed to be 70.87.170.34. I tested it by
putting the wrong one (70.87.170.84) in a hosts file and got Google as
well. When I changed it to 70.87.170.34, I got LA Eye Works.

Gentlemen -my deepest gratitude. The Dns situation is corrected, and
all situations normal. I feel, as though, somehow enlightened! As

Seeking a second thought on just one tiny snag. I can open up
http://www.laeyeworks.com in IE. Attempting the same formula in
Firefox -Google.com pops up. Is there an explanation for this
behavior? We can obviously live with this fracture and fully utilize
IE; it's just a curious footnote to this saga.
Thanks

Go into Firefox and clear the browser cache. Close and open a new one.

Greetings Everyone
I'll want to say thanks for the previous assistance. All the workers
here are very happy. A few days ago one of the ladies in advertising
commented that when she types in laeyeworks.com the web page opens
into 'under construction'. I went into the address bar typing in
laeyeworks.com and the browser opened into http://laeyeworks.com/
presenting the 'under construction' page?

I know this is the smallest of difficulties. It's a left over snag. It
would really enchance my learning curve to know why it is happening,
and how this can be corrected.
Thanks
John

This is because your internal domain name is the same as your website name,
and the domain name must resolve to the IP address of all domain
controllers, so it is pulling up the default web site on a DC.

There are three ways to resolve this,
1. Inform users to always use www.laeyeworks.com
2. Install a proxy server.
3. On each domain controller, in Internet Service Manger, setup a web site
for laeyeworks.com, then on the properties sheet of that web site, select
the Home Directory tab, select "A redirection to a URL" enter
http://www.laeyeworks.com into the field that opens, make it a permanent
redirection and click OK. If there is no Exchange server running on a Domain
Controller, or if there are no other web apps being used on the Default Web
site on any DC, you can configure this on the Default website, but I
generally create a new web site pointing to an empty folder. When you run
the new web site wizard, set the folder and use all the other defaults
except the host header, for the host header use laeyeworks.com.

Option 3 is what I normally use.
