I have a server running 2000 server that runs terminal services. I will be
adding another server which will be 2003 server. Its tempting to upgrade
the 2000 to 2003. What happens with the TS licenses on the 2000 server?
Do they work after the upgrade to do new licenses need to be bought? Other
thoughts on upgrading the 2000 server to 2003 server?

Does 2003 do a better job of taking care of licenses? I cant seem to get
2000 to give a good accounting of the licenses.

Thanks

No, running a 2003 Terminal Server means that you need 2003 TS CALs
for every user or client which connects. So even if you only add a
2003 TS, you will have to upgrade your TS CALs to 2003 TS CALs.
If you have Software Assurance on your existing W2K TS CALs, you
can buy an upgrade, otherwise you will have to buy new TS CALs.

If your clients run XP Pro and you owned the XP Pro desktop
licenses before April 24, 2003, then you can get a free transition
TS CAL for those clients.
